This painting calls to mind the survivors of the Covid-19 pandemic. Survivors come out of the woods, broken but patched back together. They stand on pedestals like trophies, because the have fought and won. Below the line are unbroken onlookers. Did they escape the pandemic, or did they succumb to it, becoming whole after death?
